ZNS, MUNGWI TOWN COUNCIL ACCESS CHAMBESHI RING ROAD IN MUNGWI

Officers from the Zambia National Service Department of Land Development Branch, Kasama in the company of Mungwi Town Council Officers conducted an assessment on the Chambeshi ring road following a directive by Lieutenant General Maliti Solochi to his officers in the service to immediately begin the rehabilitation and maintenance of feeder roads in Northern Province after a request by the Provincial Administration.

The road project on the Chambeshi ring road is earmarked to start from Mukosa turn-off through Mumba area to Kapolyo turn-off, a stretch that covers a distance of 110.6 kilometers in total.

The ZNS Kasama Land Development Branch is expected to provide the Local Authority with personnel expertise in road maintenance while Mungwi Town Council will provide some road maintenance machinery like an excavator, grader and roller compactor that will be used to improve the road.

With the help of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), this project is expected to start before the rainy season which will ease the transportation of farming inputs and other services delivered without any challenges.

Mungwi District Commissioner Muma Musonda who was also part of the entourage says that he is happy that this project will commence, as bringing this road to its glory has been a cry of many people in the surrounding communities.

The Chambeshi ring road in Mungwi District is the first project that will be worked on by ZNS Kasama Land Development Branch in Northern Province.

Charity Mumba, a resident of Mumba area has thanked Government for the gesture as road development in the area had been the cry of many and this will now be a thing of the past.
