Northern Province Deputy Permanent Secretary Beauty Undi-Phiri says the handover of seven projects under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) is a clear testament of the impact that the fund is making for the people of Mungwi district.
The Deputy Permanent Secretary was handing over an ablution block at Civic Centre, an ambulance, a Lowbed, fifty bunk beds at Kanyanta Stem Secondary School, a 1×3 classroom block at Mulambe Primary school, a science laboratory at Musenga Secondary school and the rehabilitated Chamfubu bridge on the Nseluka –Chisanga Ponde road and CDF empowerment loans amounting to three million seven hundred thirty-six thousand, nine hundred thirty five kwacha, sixteen ngwee all done through the constituency development fund.
She explains that the works of the Constituency Development Fund is evident in Mungwi District despite it being one of the vast constituencies in northern province but the communities in the district are able to benefit from the government initiatives to improve the livelihood for an ordinary Zambia citizen.
She added that the procurement of an ambulance is a testimony of Governments commitment of improving emergency healthcare in the district especially in ensuring that no mother dies while bringing life and are provided with the dignity of childbirth. She further cautioned drivers tasked to drive the ambulance to use the vehicle for the intended purposes.
Expanding classroom blocks and providing them with desks and other amenities like bunk beds will further create a conducive environment for the learners thereby encouraging students to take advantage of the free education policy as education is an equalizer.
Meanwhile Mungwi Council chairperson Grace Chomba Chisanga has cautioned beneficiaries of CDF empowerment loans to ensure that they repay the loans diligently so that the fund can also benefit other people in Mungwi district.
She further encouraged loan beneficiaries to be innovative in their businesses so that the fund can help alleviate poverty in communities.
The Local Authority has since been commended for its unwavering dedication in planning and overseeing the projects that were commissioned through its commitment to turning the vision of CDF into reality and ensuring that the Funds come to fruition.
